# Connect Coinbase Advanced Trade to BitBrokerTrade

> Generate an API key in Coinbase Advanced Trade and connect your Coinbase account to BitBrokerTrade. Follow this guide step by step.

BitBrokerTrade works with the **Coinbase Advanced Trade** API. This is Coinbase's professional trading environment. Create a key through the Advanced API menu and then add it to BitBrokerTrade. Follow the steps below.

## Part 1: Create an API key in Coinbase

  <Step title="Open Advanced API">
    Log in to [coinbase.com](https://coinbase.com) and click **"More"** in the left menu bar. On the same screen, choose the **"Advanced API"** option.

  <Step title="Start the new key flow">
    Click **"Create your API key"** and then **"Create API key"** on the next screen.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Configure the key in the pop-up">
    In the pop-up window, set the following:

    * **Name**: give the key a recognizable name
    * **Portfolio**: choose `default`
    * **Permissions**: check **View** and **Trade**
    * **IP Whitelist**: leave the field empty, the pre-filled address is a placeholder IP and does not need to be removed

    Click **"Create and download"**.

  <Step title="Save the keys">
    A pop-up appears with your two keys: the **API Key** and the **API Secret Key**. Copy both to your notepad. You do not need to do anything with the downloaded `.json` file.

  <Step title="Confirm">
    Click **"I have saved my key"** to close the pop-up.

## Part 2: Add the exchange in BitBrokerTrade

  <Step title="Navigate to Exchanges">
    Log in to BitBrokerTrade. In the left column, click **Settings**, then **Exchanges**, and then **Add exchange**.

  <Step title="Select Coinbase Advanced">
    Click the **Coinbase Advanced** logo to select this exchange.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Fill in the details and add">
    Enter the copied **API Key** and **API Secret Key** in the matching fields. Click **Add**. The connection to Coinbase Advanced is now active.

<Note>
  Coinbase does not require a confirmation email. The connection is active immediately after clicking **Add**, as long as the keys are entered correctly.
