Bitstamp is one of the oldest and most trusted European exchanges. To connect BitBrokerTrade to your Bitstamp account, create an API key through Bitstamp’s Security menu. Follow the three parts below for a working connection.
After you create an API key, Bitstamp sends a confirmation email. Click the confirmation link in that email before you add the exchange in BitBrokerTrade. If you add the exchange before confirming, the connection will fail.

Part 1: Create an API key in Bitstamp

1

Open API Access

Log in to bitstamp.net and click “Security” in the menu. Then choose “API Access”.
2

Create a new API key

Click “NEW API key”. Is there an existing key? Delete it first before creating a new one.
3

Set permissions

Scroll down on the next screen until you see the toggle buttons. Enable the relevant trading permissions by sliding the corresponding toggles to the right.
4

Confirm with 2FA

Click the confirmation button at the bottom of the screen and enter the 2FA code from the authenticator app on your phone.
5

Copy the keys

Click the copy icon next to the API key to copy it to your clipboard. Paste the key in a notepad. Do the same with the API secret. You will need both shortly in BitBrokerTrade.
6

Confirm the confirmation email

Bitstamp sends an email with an activation link. Open the email and click the link to activate the API key.

Part 2: Add the exchange in BitBrokerTrade

1

Navigate to Exchanges

Log in to BitBrokerTrade. In the left column, click Settings, then Exchanges, and then Add exchange.
2

Select Bitstamp

Click the Bitstamp logo to choose Bitstamp as the exchange.
3

Fill in the details

In the Name field, enter your Bitstamp account name. Then paste the copied API key and API secret into the matching fields.
4

Set a reserved amount (optional)

Do you want to keep part of your balance out of the trader? Enable “Reserved amount” and enter the desired amount in euros. The trader will never use this amount for purchases.
5

Add the exchange

Make sure you have already confirmed the Bitstamp email. Then click Add. The connection is now active.
Reserved amount, how does it work? Say you have €1,000 on Bitstamp and you reserve €250. The trader will then only work with €750. The €250 always stays untouched on your euro account at Bitstamp.

Part 3: Connect a trader

Now that the exchange has been added, the next step is to connect a trader to your Bitstamp account. Follow the full guide on Trader settings.
